Free Printable Card for a Grieving Friend

In my experience working in grief, I have found a couple things to be true… First, there are often times in grief where there are no words to describe your pain or your sympathy. Secondly, there is a serious lack of greeting cards that really get it right with grief and loss.

I was recently in the sympathy card section looking for a heartfelt card to send to a friend who just lost her mother. I fingered through a ton of “Life is so tender, so fragile, so very precious” cards… many “I was saddened to hear of your loss, and I realize many people have lost a blessing from God” cards… and a few “Those who do not know how to weep with their whole heart don’t know how to laugh either” cards.

Seriously. Who writes this stuff?

I have to cut them some slack, though… it’s probably really tough to be a Hallmark card writer working on sympathy cards, because what *do* you say to someone who is grieving? Are there really any words to describe the way your heart aches knowing your friend is hurting? Sometimes there are no words. And sometimes (especially in grief) that is okay.

So, in honor of all of the times in grief where you really don’t know what to say — a death anniversary, Father’s Day, or other special days — we have created a card that tells it like it is. Because sometimes there’s just not a good card for the situation.
