ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST ATTEND AN ORIENTATION SESSION PRIOR TO BEING ASSIGNED A ROLE.
ALL VOLUNTEERS INTERESTED IN BECOMING A FACILITATOR AT PROGRAM OR CAMP MUST COMPLETE OUR VOLUNTEER TRAINING.
Volunteer Orientations
Attend a volunteer orientation and learn more about SandCastles and how you can help grieving children. Volunteer opportunities include facilitating in the children/teen groups, program aide, camp facilitators and helpers, fundraising, and activity prep.

Group Facilitator
Opportunities include facilitating children/teen groups during our twice monthly program nights (5:30-9:30). Facilitators plan and lead age appropriate activities, games, art and conversations. Facilitators are asked to make a one-year commitment, and consistent attendance is important to ensure the development of the group as a cohesive unit. Facilitators are required to attend four days (18 hours) of training provided by SandCastles and receive continued on-site guidance and mentorship.
Program Aide
Our program aides greet families on program night, help set up, serve and clean up dinner. This is a key contribution to program, our shared dinner time is important to help create a safe environment where families and children feel welcome and supported. This position requires an orientation and 5:30-7:30 attendance on twice monthly program nights.
Camp Volunteer
Volunteering at our SandCastles Camp is one way to contribute your time and support for children if you are unable to make the one-year commitment to monthly programs. Camp is held one weekend a year in August. Volunteer opportunities include weekend children’s group facilitators, helpers that assist with the behind the scenes flow of camp activities and one-day support helpers. Training is provided.

Administrative/Event Volunteer
This is an opportunity to work closely with our Office Coordinator and help in many different areas. These may include copying, filing, assembling packets, mailings, assisting with special events, making phone calls or data entry. This also includes helping us to get ready for our special events throughout the year: Cruise In for a Cause, Build the Castle month, and many more!
