"After volunteering at SandCastles for 9 years, one of the best things is watching children cope, change and continue living life. When children come together at group, they have a safe environment to share and remember their special person. I love volunteering and knowing that I make a positive impact in children's lives. I love volunteering for SandCastles!"

Want to get involved and change a life?

SandCastles is looking for caring individuals who are interested in helping grieving children and teens. There are many opportunities available for program location volunteers, camp volunteers and in the office. SandCastles will arrange for you to attend an orientation which will provide you with all the details and requirements of the roles. Join us by calling 313-874-6881 and talk with a Program Coordinator. Please note that if you plan on attending an orientation or training you will need to call a program coordinator to sign up.

For those interested in working with the children, our training will prepare you with the skills needed to facilitate the grief groups. The Facilitator Training is a four session course, with additional mentorship at program sites. No experience or degree is required, simply a kind and willing heart. Trainings cover child development, grief and loss education, group facilitation techniques, personal awareness and much more. It is required for both program and camp facilitators. Orientations and trainings are conducted year round at various locations. If you are interestd in attending an orientation please make sure to call and reserve a spot as we do fill up fast.
